It depends on what country you are in. Here in the US they use corn starch.
In some other countries, like Canada, they use wheat starch. [...]42_17Feb199610:41:[log in to unmask] 9602C 648 16 17_Cheese substitute13_Lisa [log in to unmask], 17 Feb 1996 10:09:04 -0800393_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

Hello!

I was wondering if there is a LF cheese substitute. I've made lasagna
with cottage cheese but think I'd do even better without the lactose in
it. Any suggestions?

On the cheese topic, should we avoid cheeses made with annatto unless
we know the exact source? [...]44_17Feb199610:09:[log in to unmask] 9602C 665 11 26_Celiac Support in [log in to unmask], 17 Feb 1996 15:38:58 -0500269_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

I'm moving to northern Virigina, near Arlington in a couple of weeks. Is
there a support group out there that I can join?

Thanks.

I need help.
After reading the celiac faqs and this list, I seem to have the symptoms of
dermatitis herpetiformis. I am soooo itchy. My scalp, my eyes, the outside
of my thighs.... and I do get little bumps which i just scratch off. I've
been gluten free pretty much for about 4 months. I mean, I don't know if
there's any gluten in my chapstick or not, and I ate some chocolate that had
wheat in it (in the little crunchies). [...]40_17Feb199619:09:[log in to unmask] 9602C 708 41 16_/R GREAT Cookies17_Karyn S. [log in to unmask], 17 Feb 1996 20:57:40 -0500644_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

I've been diagnosed Coeliac since September last year. I know someone
whose husband was apparently gluten intolerant (but never diagnosed or
had a biospy). He has been seeing a naturopath and is feeling better and
can now eat some gluten containing products.

The lady has suggested that this naturo

I have eczema. Now that my celiac blood test has come back positive, I
guess I should say I have dermatitis herpetiformis.

My GP is satisfied with the diagnosis and has referrred me to a GI whom
I have an appointment with Monday. Under the influence of this list I am
interested to have a biopsy as well as the blood test while I am still
eating gluten. I prefer a skin biopsy to the intestinal kind.

Can anyone tell me what I should do for a skin biopsy. Can the GI do the
skin biopsy, or can my GP, or do I need to find a dermatologist? What
qualifications are needed? What do I ask for? Is it like the blood test
where only some experts know what to look for? What do they do for the
sample? Although I am on fire with itching at the moment, I have few
bumps and no lesions, so I guess I would need to eat a lot of wheat and
get well broken out (ouch) before a test, right?

Thanks for any help.
