        Hello,

I am saving for a new UHF VHF mobile-base rig, either new or second hand. Here are some
of things I would like to find; however, because of price considerations, I am not likely to get all
that I want.

Ideally, it should cover 6, 2, and 440; but I certainly don't have to have 6 meters. Also, I would
like some sort of cross band capabilities as my favorite repeater cannot be hit adequately with
a hand held with a rubber duck. So this new rig in conjunction with my outside antenna would
do well but should be able to retransmit the signal so I can monitor with my Alinco dj580. I
don't care about modes of operation other than narrow band FM but do want this rig to be able
to receive the public service bands. Also, I need encode and decode tone squelch, whatever
the technical name for it is. Don't forget about direct frequency entry and something for which
there is a speech synthesizer. I don't need a lot of memories.

Well, I guess that is all I can think of right now. Feel free to mention anything you think which
is relevant that I might have left out.

Please provide ideas for rig, approximate current cost, and possibly suggestions as to where to
purchase. Thanks.
