Hello don

The SGC Smart Tuner is what I use for this purpose.
It is becoming popular in the U.K. now - I have had mine for about 4
years.

It is a box about half the size of a brief case (I think you guys
further west have another name for this!!!!) with a 12V and PL259 at one
end, and an earth terminal and antenna terminal elsewhere on the box.

All you need to do is literally put key down on or about your favourite
frequencies and it will tune to the settings at that point in the
spectrum.
It has something like 150 memories so in future when you go back to that
frequency and start speaking or sending CW (in which case you need to
hold the key down for about 0.5 second) it will automatically select
that setting again.

I don't know the exact price in the U.S. but think in the order of 200
bucks.
SGC are in the Seattle area and from memory I think the web site is
SGC.COM but haven't looked at it.

It was originally designed for the /MM market for loading back stays of
sailing boats and the box is supposedly water tight but I haven't
checked this out!

I use mine at my /a QTH with a Kenwood TS570 which has a tune button on
it, and when this is pressed it sets the ATU up and the tuner on the rig
to illiminate the inadequacies of the tx/ATU cable.

In summary, a lot easier than a twiddle ATU and squark box!
