Hello Darrell,
There is an accessible amateur ht that will do what you want it to do. It
not only covers 2 and 440 but 222 as well. The radio is the Kenwood TH-F6A.
The TH-F6A in addition features a general coverage receiver. You can listen
in standard nbfm and the new 2.5khz deviation narrow-narrow-fm, wideband for
tv audio, ssb, am, and cw. As I said the rig is very accessible.
Frequencies can be entered via the keypad and a tuning knob mounted on the
top of the radio. A totally blind user can select virtually all modes,
switch bands, adjust power, select pl tones, and more. This is accomplished
via the keypad and tuning knob. TheEach key has a dual function denoted by
a change in frequency of a beep that is heard. When you scroll through
different pl settings, for example, a beep is heard always at a standard
point and you can count clicks of the knob as you move through the tones.
Other scrolling menus are handled in the same way. I have owned a TH-F6A
since October of 2001 and absolutely love it. You can get an accessible
manual for the rig at http://www.icanworkthisthing.com. If you have any
other questions I would be glad to answer them. 73.
