Dear Shirley,
I've written to you about this privately, but perhaps the list might
benefit from my experiences.
I was a Volunteer Examiner with the W 5 Y I group for several years, and
the head V E who was a good friend of mine let me sign off on everything
until W 5 Y I instituted a ruling that said that a blind examiner could not
sign off on anything but the code testing sessions. When that happened, my
late husband, John, W 9 E O P, dropped his examiner status, along with me,
because I wasn't permitted to do what the rest of the V E's were allowed to
do. This dropped our V E status to just two V E's here in this county. We
had to stop giving exams altogether. Now, you may have better luck with the
A R R L than I had with the W 5 Y I group. I don't know. You might try and
see.
I won't go into it here right now, but the League and I have some major
differences of opinion on many, many things, the most important to me and
my late husband is the code issue.
