method follows having turned off rig and disconnected from 12V supply.

1. turn rig upside down with rear to right

2. remove 10 screws as described on p97 of the manual.

3. find far side of chassis, half way along.

4. toward you is a quite unpopulated part of the board with two
connectors to the right, one with 2 and the other with 4 wires from it.

5. in this area are two sockets which almost feel like chips. - about 2
inches from far edge.
that on left is for the dru-1, with two slots vertical, and that on
right is for the vs-3 with opening to left.

6. insert the vs-3 carefully from left, with component side upward as
per manual p97.

7. replace 10 screws.

8. job done.

I am a total and managed this without sighted help apart from a verbal
description from a good friend.

I can' however, find a jumper which is called 'dx' which permits greater
sensitivity when receiving A.M. signals on medium wave.
