Kevin:

I'm a TS-570DG user equipped with the VS-3. The synth reads all menu item
numbers and subtitled numbers. IE: the speech processor item number is
15. the VS-3 speaks: "15 5" to indicate that the processor is set to 5DB
and so on. KHZ is not spoken for kilohertz but "on" and "off" is. Only
freq and S-9 is announced. This is controlled by item 41 52. Freq is 41
51. To change the menu sub items, you use the band up and down selector
buttons, to move through the main items you use the multiple control
knob. All the menu settings are available in the manual so maybe your XYL
could read them to you and you could create a text file Or request the
manual on cassette from the US version of the Canadian National Institute
for the Blind. You could also download the manual from Kenwood's site. I
couldn't get my JFW 3.5 to read it with the present version of Adobe access
plug in I have so it may require Adobe 5.0 and JFW 3.7 and higher. You
can also contact someone through the Courage Handiham System web site at:
http://www.handiham.org and click on contact us. There are phone numbers
and email addresses there. As for the SWR, which I view as more important
then the S-9, which Kenwood has over looked, can't be announced. There are
alerts in CW when the tuner has a little problem with matching the antenna.
I'm sorry I can't help you with the DX cluster info.

Hope this helps (HTH) and 73
Michael VO1RYN
