I realize that you were chortling over the type-o.  However, before I
got the NC-300 receiver, I used a BC-779A WW2 surplus receiver.  We
called it the "SuperPro" and it was made by Hammarlund.  What made it
interesting was that it had a knob at the lower left that changed the Q
of a coil in the filtering circuit.  You could thus have a bandpass from
perhaps 3.5kHz to something like 15kHz.  Really made AFRTS out of L.A.
sound good!
