Hi Anthony,
If the A band works as one would expect, that's really OK. (If it did
not, I would understand your worry.) What you're asking for--a subband
that receives as well as the main band, while still being a very broad
receiver, crammed into a tiny package with a much narrower receiver
(thus easier to make sensitive where you want) *and* a
transmitter--is, well, you're wanting a miracle here. Sorry, can't
have it. There has to be a trade-off somewhere. Why do you think it is
that the Radio Shaft HTX-202 handies don't have the overload problems
that plague so many other radios of similar (and smaller) size? Hint:
Check the frequency coverage. So I mean, if you want all the freqs,
you're bound to give up some sensitivity. Especially at such a
reasonable price as the TH-F6A sells at. (Now if you were paying a
price equivalent to a dual-band HT and a *good* shortwave receiver
along the lines of, say, a Sony ICF-2010 or I suppose more
appropriately, the SW-100), you might have a point. Maybe. But while
these circuits are getting smaller and cheaper by the hour, I think
your expectations might be a bit high.
