I have done that myself and if the software does not purge itself of old unused or inactive addresses I guess you will have to keep the errors that result. I would not even know how to go about deactivating one of these accounts so like you did not bother. I guess you could jump the game and set up an original call(dash)number similar to that which occurs in the packet system when you set up a tnc.
