Hi Pat,

Thanks for your comments! I'm favoring the 2000, but I sure
like the sound of the 756 pro. I understand that the menus
don't talk at all in the pro, but talk very well in the
2000.

Subject: Re: Which rig should I buy

Hi Bob,

As a TS2000 owner, I am inclined to suggest the Kenwood. I
bought the
'2000' because it had more speech functionality than the
Icom 746, or did
at least as far as I was able to determine. At the time,
the 756Pro was
considerably more money, and its strong point seemed to be
the visual
spectrum display. I don't know about the speech chip in the
756, but I
have a couple of sighted ham friends who are absolutely
pleased with their
Pros. I am very pleased with the performance of the TS2000.
I have an
'850', and it runs next to the 2000 - a coax switch gives me
either rig
quite easily. The 2000 has a quieter receiver and, once you
get the hang
of the DSP function, the selectivity is great. I've not
gotten as far as
the computer interface, but I am sure that will be
beneficial, and I would
think that the Icom would offer the same computer-driven
benefits.

My limited experience with the Icom has involved a couple of
opportunities
to tune it at A E S. It is quite intuitive and is really a
lot of radio.

You have a hard choice, and will get your Kenwood, if you
chose to do so,
for around $400 less than I payed for mine last May at
Dayton.

Good luck with your choice and enjoy the decision.
