Looking at the radio from the front, the chip goes on the right side, near
the edge, under the bottom panel.

You have to remove the bottom cover, the entire bottom, not just the
sub-panel where the filters go.
There is a small screw driver adjustable pot very near the socket where the
speech chip plugs in.  This pot is to adjust the volume of the speech.

I have not installed the chip by myself, but, I have removed the cover in
order to adjust the volume.

Just remember, do not force anything.  Also, do not remove the plastic cover
from the sides of the chip.
