My TS-2000 allows you to punch in the memory number from the keypad and
takes you there.

Yep, I had  acouple 440s..  The one thing I neverstood wqas the step
backword Kenwood took after that radio as far as memories.  In the later
stuff, you have to use the knob to select the memory you want.  In the
440, you could enter it on the key pad, well actually the two row keys.
