"Who are we" ... we're trying to be responsible licensees, that's who we
are.  It's attitudes such as yours that result in problems for traveling
hams, not attitudes like ours.  Whether _you_ think it's safe simply isn't
at all relevant and it's not your decision to make.  The rules are in place
and, as has been pointed out, an individual flight's captain may choose to
allow something, but it's sure as hell not simply up to you to decide what
you will and won't do on a commercial flight ... especially not since
September 11.  I can't believe that any FCC licensee can believe as you do
and it makes me ashamed and embarrassed to be a ham to hear another one
express your attitude.
