Hello,
A few months ago, I bought a new computer. While I am pleased with most aspects of its performance, there is one area which really frustrates me. This thing
causes a lot of birdies, especially on the medium wave and short wave bands. To a lesser extent, this is true even when the computer is turned off. So I am
certain there is current flowing through the power supply even when it is turned off as there is slight warmth to the touch in the area of the power supply fan grill.
So now for the question. Other than replacing the power supply, is there anything I can do to either eliminate or minimize this problem? These birdies are so
strong on the broadcast band such that only local broadcasters can be heard if the tuner is within four feet of the computer. Adding a long wire won't help as
there is no way that I know of to shield the tuner from the R F I. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
