Hi, list:
I pitched a story on CD to a Minnesota newspaper (The Brainerd Dispatch)
while I was on vacation there. A reporter did the story, and it appears in
today's edition (8/22/01). I need to point out a few errors in her story (I
don't want you to think I told her these things!).
1. The doctor she quotes (she found him on her own) seems to be of the
belief that CD is "not common." I beg to differ.
2. She says, "People who get the disease are allergic to gluten" -- please
know that she is not quoting me when she says that!
3. She has a few errors in her technical descriptions and warnings of
associated disorders, but she's close (she got all that information from the
doctor she interviewed).
4. The doctor says, "There is a lot involved in diagnosing the disease."
Again, I beg to differ.
5. My son's stomach didn't "begin to descend," it began to "distend."
6. She says I'll be speaking in Minneapolis at the CSA convention -- what I
said is that I might be ATTENDING the convention -- I have not been formally
asked to speak.
Having said all that, we'll take all the awareness-raising PR we can get,
and I'm thankful for the article. You can see it at:
