I knew I'd forget at least one post! I received one post expressing a
concern that I said "gluten sensitivity" and not "celiac disease." It
further stated "You do realize that this is celiac disease to be sure to
rule out all forms of gluten prior to saying she is allergies to metal.
Be sure she is GF and taking vitamins. If she is controlled maybe she
will have to skin eruptions."
From what I understand, the definitive diagnosis of CD is by biopsy. I
was diagnosed by Dr. Fine's stool and gene testing. Therefore, the
"official" diagnosis is "gluten sensitivity." That being said, on the
basis of my gene testing, I have no doubt that had I continued to ingest
gluten, I would have at some point had the biopsy and an "official"
diagnosis of CD. I was to the point of anemia and Alopecia along with
the development of Sjogren's Syndrome and peripheral neuropathy before
Dr. Fine's testing. My granddaughter has two copies of the primary CD
gene, malabsorption and Scoliosis. Believe me, we have no
misconceptions of the seriousness of her diagnosis of gluten
sensitivity!
