Just an anecdote, I had a student who was a meat health inspector. He
said beef was OK, pork not great, but the worst was chicken. He never
ate chicken.
My profs in college (20 years ago) scoffed at the idea that growth
hormones were a problem. They are detectable only in the liver of
freshly killed animals, and not detectable at all shortly after
slaughter. Break down very quickly. Birth control residues in the
water are probably worse.
