I've been "talking" a lot lately. Two more comments and I'll try to shut
up ;-)
Phillip: > "As you probably figure, I am in pretty fair agreement with the
"anti-aerobics" FAQ http://www.superslow.com/why_not_aerobics.html"
1) I too like the anti-aerobics link above. I am a big believer in the
SuperSlow protocol. (Hutchins was a disciple of Nautilus founder Arthur
Jones, but had some kind of falling out with his former boss.) Do take a
look at the some of the other articles on the website linked above. Good
information
2) I work out using the SuperSlow method no more thanTWICE a week, Mondays
and Thursdays. I find it quite amazing that my workouts consist of 20-25
minutes of high intensity weight lifting for a total of less than an hour a
week, yet I'm in better aerobic shape than 95% of the folks who are slaving
away on the Stairmasters, treadmills, and exercise bikes. I look very
similar to Phillip from the photos I've seen on his website, lean and
muscular. Trust me, it's not genetics. Again, I think the reason for my
success is that my workouts better mimic the exertions of pre-neolithic
man.
3) Two recommended books. First, the old Nautilus workout books that you
can probably still find at your local halfprice bookstore. There's a lot
of good info in those, most of which are useful for dispelling the old
"weight training musclebound vs. aerobicially fit person" myths. Second,
Ellington Darden's book "Living Longer Stronger: The 6-Week Plan to
Enhance & Extend Your Years over 40". Darden, too, was a Jones disciple.
I am not over 40, but still love the material in this book.
