<<FOR KATHRYN: Do you notice a response to this?>>

Yes Katelyn will just react with only rash sometimes. As far as pure
avoidance I feel that this is something she got from me and I out grew it to
a degree.

I used to suffer as a child with frequent stomachaches. Since no one knew
what this was when I was growing up, I was labeled with a nervous stomach or
sensitive stomach. I always drank milk and ate dairy products. Some days I
would have a reaction some days I wouldn't. It is still that way. I have
found that if I eat a lot of dairy in a day, cereal for breakfast, pizza for
lunch and lasagna for dinner, by dinner I will have a stomach reaction. I
never had the rash symptoms. Since no one in my husbands family has any
type of allergy or sensitivity to foods, and I am the only one in my family
with this problem, I assume she got it from me and will follow along like I
did.

That is why I decided to allow her to have something's once in a while. And
you are right, she doesn't seem to have the cramps and diarrhea, just a rash
with small amounts of chocolate. She is satisfied with one Hershey's kiss
or 2 M&M's. To be honest she doesn't want or like anything else that
contains dairy except pizza. We pull off all the visible cheese and she
eats the crust with sauce. She does sometimes have a reaction to that. The
problem we have, like everyone else, is the hidden dairy that I wasn't aware
of, like eating out or natural flavors. Her diarrhea reaction seems to have
gone away for the most part as she has gotten older. Now it is just loose
stools, she seems to get some relief from the cramps by taking smithicon(?)
drops (Mylacon) after she eats. So I have to assume some of it is gas
related. As a baby her reactions were fierce, but as she gets older they
are lessoning. It is a great help that she is now talking and can tell me
she needs Mylacon. Hope this helps.
