I'm not sure that this got posted to the Celiac+Diabetes list, so I thought I
would do that. I also wanted to let everyone know that the American Diabetes
Association holds it's camp at the same time & place as the GIG camp -- so
kids with both will be able to have the the support they need for both
diabetes & celiac while attending camp . . . I just go the brochure -- It
looks like a great opportunity for our kids!

GLUTEN INTOLERANCE GROUP (GIG) KID'S CAMP -
REGISTRATION SOON TO OPEN - AND WILL FILL FAST!

In case you still haven't heard, GIG organizes a camp for kids each summer,
serving children with Celiac Disease (CD), Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH), and
those with celiac-diabetes.

GIG kids are integrated into a multi-activity camp held at Camp Sealth in
Western Washington State. Camp Sealth is a Camp Fire camp fully accredited
with the American Camping Association and has made just 30 spots available to
GIG for kids who need to maintain a gluten free diet while enjoying a
wonderful normal camping experience. GIG's Dietitian oversees all meal
preparation at camp and she along with volunteers carefully monitors the
children's diet and provides support and education about CD and DH. Campfires
with S'mores, picnic lunches, overnight camp outs and enviable meals are all
a part of Kid's Camp.

Camp will be held in two concurrent sessions and campers may attend one or
both. The first session will be July 5th through 11th, 2001 the second
session will be July 12th through 15th, 2001. Children entering grades 2
through 12 are eligible.

Travel and registration scholarships can be granted on a limited basis, and
GIG is seeking donations to make more scholarships available. If you would
like to sponsor a child or donate to the camp program please contact GIG at
the number listed below.

Registrations for camp opens January 29th, 2001 and remember the slots will
fill fast! If you attended camp last year you will receive registration
information in the mail prior to January 29th. Otherwise, call GIG at (206)
246-6652 to have a camp brochure sent to you.

Again, if you'd care to donate to this wonderful kid experience, contact GIG!
