haha, i liked this one. Yeah, one of the best things about Japan for me was being able to stay in a Zen Buddhist temple overnight, and be served a vegetarian breakfast consisting of fish eggs, tadpole looking white fish, and tuna steak.. as well as the usual other stuff.
Another friend of mine (Iranian origin), announced to his family he was now a vegetarian, so they agreed, and next meal served him some chicken.

vegetarian, but they make exceptions for so many things, that they get
a trickle of animal products all the time. In fact they seem to
consider fish vegetables.
