In my situation it took about a week to calm down to normal. In fact I
was so used to being pumped up on high BP that I was hardly able to move
and I giggled alot like I was drunk. And of course I slept for about
16 hours a day. This was on Dr. Atkins diet.
After I discovered Neanderthin I found an even better level of calm and
health since I seem to be lectin ( http://www.krispin.com/lectin.html )
sensitive and the paleo method removes the major factors for this.
Right now I am back to normal and feeling great. However, if I eat any
grains at all ( like a cookie or a bun ) I am right back to turbo in
about 30 minutes. If I do that then it takes about 3 days to return to
normal.
As a personal bit of advice: Treat grains as an addiction. When a
person goes from grain based eating to non grain eating there will be
about a week of intense fatigue, pain and general withdrawal. I went
through it and all my paleo friends feel it too. It is like being
pulled through a knothole! But when you are done you feel *so* much
better... often for the first time in your life. I was about 37 when I
"discovered" paleo type eating.
Good luck. :-)
