If it is under warranty the builder should make it work for nothing. The more you screw around with it, the better chance the builder will find a reason not to cover it under warranty. When you go in, be sure to tell the builder that you've never been able to fire it up, and don't tell him/her that you opened it up or did anything inside. They'll blame it on you and deny warranty coverage.
