Usually when you get beeps on startup, depending on the number of beeps (you
can find what the beep pattern is in the owner's manual or guide, but not
always) it signals, among other things, no RAM, or it is not detecting any
RAM. Yours is an old system and may require paired memory modules of a
certain kind (which the new modules were apparently not).  If your old
memory is not working you either fried the old memory with static
electricity removing it, or you did some damage to your mobo. Check the
owner's manual that came with the system or with the mobo to see what kind
of memory you need.  You might want to take the modules you have to a
computer store or to a friend's house to test them.  If the mobo is still
beeping it's still alive.  Check your video card to make certain you didn't
loosen it removing the memory.  There is a beep pattern for a missing or not
properly seated video card also.


I wanted to increase memory on a pentium II 200 MHz pc from 32mb to 64mb,
after taking out the old memory sticks the system is no more booting. System
continuously, gives two long beeps and never goes any further. There is no
video display at all. Either the new & old memory gives the same long double
beeps. Beeps continue even when memory is taken out. Help please.
