Hi Allan:
No major differences in terms of available performance providing you
have the OS set up appropriately e.g when using XP with Jaws there are
some quite specific display setting which FS recommend such as using
Classic Windows interface. Even down to which background wallpaper you
should use, Bliss because apparently it's colour scheme is less likely
to confuse Jaws. One slightly annoying feature of pro operating system
is the connectivity with AT related add-ons such as braille displays and
external speech synths. Refreshible braille displays can only be
connected via serial under pro OS, not parallel as in win98, and speech
synths tend to be serial too. Try buying a current generation machine
that has two serial ports. Solution, newer devices are moving across to
USB connections although of course of this kit is extremely expensive so
you wouldn't just upgrade it for a new connection type. Port
replicators can work but individual devices are fussy about which will
and which won't work through particular brands. Not really the question
you asked I know but a particular problem I've been trying to get to the
bottom of lately and am glad to get of my chest.
Best wishes

Hello JAWS users,
What differences (if any) do you notice when running recent versions of
JAWS under Windows 2000 and Windows XP?
Alan
