This question is likely to be answered by David Gillett, but others may have
had experience to share. I am an advanced user of NT/Windows 2000, having
started in 1992 with the NT SDK. However, I still don't understand the
purpose of hardware profiles. Especially with Windows 2000 and the always-on
Plug and Play feature, how can a profile take hold when the PnP reconfigures
to match the hardware?

Any explanations and experiences would be appreciated. If you use hardware
profiles, how do you use them and what benefit do they serve? Thank you.
