Hello,
I am building my first PC from scratch and am having some weird
things happening, which I suspect are related to the power supply.

System:
Enlight case w/ 300W P/S
Asus A7V133 M/B
256 MB PC133 SDRAM (Micron Tech)
Matrox Mistique 220 Video card (to be replaced w/ATI AIW 128 AGP)
10GB Western Digital Caviar HDD (to be replaced w/IBM 40GB 7200RPM)
Toshiba CDROM drive
(I'm using the Matrox card and Western HDD for the initial setup
since I don't have drivers loaded for Win2K for the ATI AGP card and
the Promise ATA 100)

Problem 1:
After installing the components and plugging in the power cord, the
onboard LED came on and stayed on. When I pressed the Power Switch,
all of the fans except the onboard fan came on for about 1 revolution
and went off, but the LED stayed lit. When I removed the power cable
and tried it again, the same thing happened. Upon close inspection, I
discovered much to my horror that the onboard fan had a plastic
mounting stud jammed under the blades! I removed the fan and the stud
and tried the power up again. Same results. I then tried another
Enlight power supply from my (then)working computer and got the same
results. I disconnected the 300W P/S ATX plug from the M/B and
jumpered the Power On to ground. The power supply briefly came on and
then shut off. I wonder if the P/S was damaged by the jammed fan when
I turned it on the first time. (I also don't recall for sure if I
discovered the jammed fan before I tried my other P/S.)

Problem 2:
After reinstalling the 250W P/S in my "working" computer and the
Matrox video card, this computer no longer works! When the Power
Switch is pressed, all of the fans come on, the HDD comes on, but the
monitor doesn't wake up from its standby state. I removed and reset
the video card with no improvement. I checked the P/S voltages at the
ATX plug and they all appear to be correct. Another thing I noticed
was that after pressing the Power Switch the first time, pressing it
again does not turn off the computer.

This is getting to be more of an adventure than I had hoped it would
be. Any help or suggestions any of you folks can offer will be most
appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Paul Stoops
