Since you're going mainly for the city, be sure to check out some of the
incredibly fine Italian restaurants in south Philly.  Whether it's the
heavier Sicilian food or the northern Italian cuisine, which is more akin
to French than to traditional Italian, it's all beyond belief.  Try to get
directions to a known mob-owned place ... they'll have the best food, best
service, and be about as safe to come to and depart from as it's possible
to be.
