Not necessarily bad memory,
Are you sure that the mother board supports 32 MB SIMMs of EDO?
Check to see that the SIMMs are inserted securely into their slots.
what was in the slots before?
Some motherboards use a proprietary type of SIMMs and will not accept any
other type or brand.
check with your computer manufacturer as to the proper SIMMs to use
Hope this helps

screen, then to the Microsoft Scandisk screen, because win was not shut down
properly, once it finishes the scan drive for errors it then goes to a black
screen and sits there for approx 1 min. then automatically goes to the
Microsoft Windows 98 startup Menu, with #3 hi lighted, stating win did not
finish loading on the previous attempt choose safe mode to start win with
min set of drivers. selecting #3 safe mode I get one beep then another
screen with #3 hi lighted and a error: HIMEM.sys has detected unreliable XMS
memory at address xxxxxx XMS driver not installed.
