I was stuck in a similar situation myself and finally decided to try a 56K
router. I had done the ICS, modems in every machine, etc. I got the 3Com
Remote Dual Analog from http://micronet.vwh.net for about $80.00. It has two
V.90 modems built in it (you can use one or both at the same time-multilink).
Although this is a discontinued 3Com model, it is a brand new open box item
according to the vendor, I find it to be a fantastic solution for me. The
updated firmware and support is at the 3Com site. 3Com's newer replacement
model, priced at about $400.00 doesn't have the built-in bridging
capabilities of the older model, however it apparently does offer modem
sharing for faxing. I was leary of this as a viable solution, but have found
it to be very easy to install, setup, & modify via it's browser interface. It
also has a console serial interface if you need it. I think there are other
brands of similar products on the market, but I couldn't find a cheaper
solution.
Good Luck,
Jay Merritt
