ID#0 is the *default* boot device ID for booting from SCSI, but an
old (then, four years ago!) version of SCO UNIX is the only OS I've
ever seen insist on it.
Other than that, I'm not aware of any particular benefit to ID#0
over 1-6. It's just a way of telling devices apart, not a priority
ranking.
[It *is* a reasonably common ID for the only SCSI drive in a
system, just as the controller is almost always ID#7. I just don't
see any *performance* basis for it.]
