Reposted with permission from the Raw-Food email list. The web article
pointed to is a real kick. :^)

Subject: non-vegetarians rate the veggie meat analogues (pointer)
To: [log in to unmask]
The latest issue of the "Express," a free weekly newspaper published
in Berkeley, California has an article written by non-vegetarians
that discusses (in a generally positive way) the various meat
analogues favored by some vegetarians. The article citation is:
"Close to the Veg" by Dan Heath; "Express." 6 April 2001;
vol. 23, no. 25; pp. 21-22.
The article is available online (now) at the URL:
http://www.eastbayexpress.com/food/essay_current.html
Note that the URL above is valid for only a week or so; afterwards
the article will still be on the express website, but will be moved to
a back issue section, and you will need to get the URL through
that section of the website.
PS although the pseudo-meats are definitely not raw, readers of
this list might find the article to be worth reading. There is some humor
in the article, including an interesting remark re: synthetic
chicken and chemical engineers. :-)
