I was in Hartford a year ago or so, did some research at the CT Historical
Society, saw the signs about the proposed wondrous new building, and
wondered the same thing.

The Society is now housed in what appears to be a large, very fancy old
house (early 20th century high style of I forget what kind exactly) with a
much newer museum building tacked on to the back of it.  It's in the same
neighborhood as Mark Twain's old house.
