Deb,

I have a BJC80 and have been very well satisfied with it. I use it
almost exclusively for printing black and white text with clean and quick
results. I had some trouble installing and using it at first because my
computer was set for an extremely fast data transfer rate the printer could
not accept. The fix required a BIOS fix, but the tech staff at Canon were
quite helpful. I have used it successfully with the infrared port on my
laptop for wireless printing, which requires slowing the speed down even
more. Unless price is absolutely critical, I would suggest looking at a
BJC85 with USB connection. If your host computer supports USB it will make
for a more portable and easily managed package. Setting up to print through
the printer port is a drag and requires a decidedly not-portable cable and a
reboot for most computers. The plug and play feature for USB saves a lot of
aggravation. If you are printing in black and white only, you can get a big
cartridge and replacement printer head for about $30. It will save money
very quickly, since the black cartridges that go in with the three color
tanks are only good for about 20 pages of text. I will try printing a high
resolution color print and let you know how it does.
