Richard and Mike have it right ... you have assigned frequencies and
operating outside of those frequencies is _never_ acceptable and
emergencies don't justify it.  Just don't do it and you'll be doing what
you should.  The essence of good operating practice is observing the
regulations, not violating them in order to render assistance in an
emergency.
