Well, a couple of weeks ago I got the Kenwood V7A and have learned how to
program a number of the settings. I haven't downloaded the software yet so
I cannot speak to that but I did buy the cable so I could use the software
eventually. I have not figured out how I can program my own pl tones
without having to use the software however. It is a fun radio to use and
once the weather warms up again here in Denver, I'll get my dual band
diamond antenna up and my new 100 feet of 99 13 coax plugged in. I did get
the radio set up to cross band repeat, which was one feature I really
wanted, and it is pretty easy to set that mode up, too, but frankly, I still
have lots to learn about the radio. It has really opened up a whole new
area of hamming for me so I guess I should have gotten a new radio a long
time ago.

Phil,
