Hi Gang,

A Compaq Presario 1692 is in need of a new floppy drive.
The compaq part number is 141847-001.

I have received a response from compaq giving me a number to call for non-warranty replacement parts.

My main question is this.  Are the floppy drives for compaq laptops proprietary?

I'm not sure what I expected but over a hundred bucks for a floppy drive seems a bit steep.
