Hi,
I've got a motorola SM56 internal modem. I wanted to
upgrade my OS to WinXP from 98SE and I was looking for
suitable drivers for the modem. Since Motorola got
out of modem business, their site only has the Win2k
drivers, which according to them, should work fine on a clean
install of WinXP but not on an upgrade. I went through
the trouble of backing-up my data and making a clean
install of WinXP only to find that when I try to install
the Win2k driver, the system restarts. I don't understand
what's going on here. I'd be glad if you could tell me
where I could get WinXP drivers for this modem
(a reliable third-party would be fine with me). I got the
same problem with the Win2k drivers provided by the
modem manufacturer.
I can't change the modem as I have already used up
my quota of upgrade-money for other upgrades
and I'll have to wait for sometime to change the modem.
TIA.
