Hi, I have full retail install version of winME( I won it at a raffle).
I also have been using win98SE for some time now and enjoy it
very much on 3 systems, as well as Linux Mandrake 7.2 on a multi-boot
system. As a power user, I have been told that winME "sucks".
However, I have just built a new system, and would like to partition
it out to have several OS. I particularly want winXP when it comes
out, on one of the partitions. I have Partition Magic 6.
Please advise as to partitioning scheme
I should take, and what is major difference between win98SE
and winME let me know what is frustrating).
have a 30gig drive as primary drive, and a 40gig drive as a secondary
drive(brand new). I was thinking of fdisk(with my win98SE startup
diskette) and make a 2 gig primary active partition(install winME) and
rest extended partition/(install Partition Magic 6 to it) and make another
Primary partition(not active, hidden) of 2gig for "XP" and then have
entire 40gig secondary drive as extended partition. How much space
should each OS probably take for primary partition? What would be
ideal size? I know that Linux likes to have more that 2 gig for full install.
I made mistake once of making a 250Meg ext2 partition for Linux, and I
actually got a GUI install of Linux with that small a space, but I learned a
lesson.Would it be better to have Primary Active partition on 30gig
primary?and then just make a Primary(hidden) partition on the 40gig
secondary drive? Describe your best partitioning scheme to me.

Thanks much,

Susan Stubbs
