This is a somewhat complicated question John,

The wall, floor and ceiling construction needs to address thermal and
moisturte barrier needs (ie. insulation and vaporbarrier) it is important
that the vapor barrier be complete at the floor and ceiling in addition to
the walls. In addition, you will need a seperated mechanical unit that is
capable of both temperature and humidity control (the typ of unit will
depend on the size of the space and the acceptable amount of swing in temp
and humidity. Other considerations include the climate control outside the
collection storage space. Is there going to routine access in and out of
this storage room or is a "locked box" if the room is routinly accessed than
a vestibule system will be required to avoid temp and humidity swings. I
would strongly encourage you ro your client to hire and architect and MEP
engineer who have experience in museum collection storage environments.

Subject: Environmentally Controlled Room

Can you help me find information on the construction of an environmentally
controlled room within another structure. The room would be used to store
collection objects such as photographic glass plate negatives. Fire
resistance is another requirement. I seek the details and materials of wall
construction, and sources for a "unit" that can control temperature and
relative humidity within the room, which can be powered by electricity.
