Hi Petra,

We have demo versions of JAWS at the Center...but we do have some problems
installing and getting it to work correctly. And because it doesn't work in
Hebrew, we are concentrating more on those systems that can use both
languages.

Right now, the main screen reader is Virgo (which sues the Baum Web
browser), and we are also using the Virtouch/braille mouse system. The
Virtouch system is really amazing since students can read braille in English
and Hebrew from the mouse, as well as reading graphics; and the system also
reads text to the students. Are any other list members experimenting with
Virtouch?

We are in the process here in Israel of using an improved TTS--Melingo--so
all screen and text reading system are likely to make the changeover to this
TTS very soon. At present we are using a "not so great" TTS in Hebrew, but
managing since this is all that has been available.

I will be working more intensively with demos for JAWS, Window Eyes and some
other screen readers in English right after our matriculation exams in
May...and am glad for the offer of help. I will definitely be in touch.

Ellen
