I am administrator for  Short Courses and
Conferences at the Centre for Psychotherapeutic Studies,
University of Sheffield. In this context, I would like to draw your
attention to the forthcoming conference, "Psychotherapy, Evidence in
the Balance".  This important topical conference is being run jointly by
several National organisations. The details are below.

Please note that there is less than one month to go to the early
booking date (1st March) entitling you to a discounted fee.
The conference is being held in the lovely Swallow Hotel, includes a
banquet social. There are lovely facilities- swimming pool, sauna,
jacuzzi, etc. so you can have a good time whilst also increasing your
knowledge.

PSYCHOTHERAPY: EVIDENCE IN THE BALANCE
Thurs. 23rd April-Sat. 25th April, 1998, Swallow Hotel, Sheffield.
ROYAL COLLEGE OF PSYCHIATRISTS PSYCHOTHERAPY SECTION;
ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY TEACHERS OF PSYCHIATRY;
UNIVERSITIES PSYCHOTHERAPY ASSOCIATION
This joint residential conference will explore the place of evidence in
psychotherapy in the light of legal, scientific and clinical understandings
of what counts as evidence. A series of workshops will help participants to
examine and develop the evidential base of their own practice. The varied
kinds of evidence that outside bodies may require from psychotherapists in
future will be discussed. Presenters will be drawn from law, history,
research and medicine as well as the psychoanalytic, cognitive behavioural
and systemic traditions in psychotherapy.
Fees: Residential £340. Non residential £180
Late bookings (after 1st March.) add £30 to basic fees.
Booking deadline: 10th April.
