You need to get a router/switchbox like a Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, or SMC 4 port one. You can get wireless or wired, though the former is more expensive. I have an SMC7004 wired Barricade, which you can get at CompUSA for about $100 or a little less. All of them except the Netgear are about that much. The Netgear is more expensive. You need two cat 5 cables to connect the network interface card (NIC) from each computer to one of the LAN ports on the router/switchbox, and another cat 5 to connect the cable modem to the WAN port on the router/switchbox. Follow the instructions that come with the router/switchbox, and each computer will have access to the modem, and can share files and printers. With the SMC box you get an LPT plug for a network printer, but you can still share other printers.
