I wanted to swap a stick of 128MB RAM for three 32MB sticks. I put the
128MB stick in the correct slot, but it wasn't recognized. I tried
reinstalling it several times. It worked in another computer. It is
generic 133mz. I then put back the three 32MB sticks, and had trouble
getting all three recognized. Only two were recognized if installed
alone. I succeeded in getting all three recognized by putting the third
in the third slot. It still took a lot of uninstalling and reinstalling
in their slots to get all three recognized. These are three different
brands, all 100mz. What is the cause of the failure to recognize RAM? I
thought of rubbing the contacts of the troublesome RAM sticks with an
eraser to clean them, although the sticks are fairly new. Would that be a
good idea? Any other suggestions? Mobo is Pine, 100mz bus. I thought the
128MB stick would install, and run at 100mz. Computer 128MB works OK in
has 100mz bus.
