I agree with everything you wrote except what is currently considered normal
refresh rates.
The ultimate flicker free setting is widely considered to be a refresh rate
of 85Hz, though at 75Mz flicker is virtually undetectable by the human eye.
My monitor is a two year old model with a max of 110Mz @ 800 X 600 and a max
of 87Hz @ 1024 X 768. Most new monitors have max rates far superior to mine.
I have had it set to 85Hz @ 1024 x 768 for quite some time and am very
pleased with this setting.
