I agree this is probably it. We are surrounded every day by
a far greater load of pathogens than our paleo ancestors
ever faced. They probably almost never got sick, except when
meeting another band for the first time. I have read that in
the old days, ships crews became very healthy after a few
weeks at sea, as everyone threw off all the bugs they had
brought along. Into port they picked up a new crop.
Since starting Paleo I have had a lot fewer, more mild colds
than before. I teach, so I see a new group of people every
day, and spend hours together in a smzll room talking. My
kids also bring lots of things home from school. I used to
get lots of colds all winter. Now, I get a few hours of sore
throat, and then it is gone, for the most part. I almost
never get the serious nose and throat reactions any more.
Hope it holds true this year too.
