A further thought on this... in Southern California in the winter time you
can often see some people all bundled up in down jackets and hats, and others
wearing shorts and sandals, on the same day. One person thinks it's cold, the
other thinks it's warm. This is more a matter of perception than anything
else. In this area, the average daily temperature does not vary much
throughout the year, so you become very sensitive to small temperature
changes. It's quite possible to drive your car using both the airconditioner
and the heater in the same day.

So I think also that the reverse is true, in that one can also tolerate wide
temperature changes with little or no clothing with sufficient adaptation.
