The latter is probably OK. If the DIMMs are from different makers, or
sometimes even of different lots from the same maker, in certain cases
there can be problems, but these are *not* common. The best thing is just
to try it and see. If you get memory errors, remove one DIMM.
There is also some OS dependence. Windows is generally pretty forgiving
about mix-and-match, but may need premium RAM to function. OS/2 runs
flawlessly on low-grade, generic RAM *provided* the DIMMS are carefully
matched by maker _and_ lot.
