I have an old monitor from 1991... It even has a NEC/VGA detachable cord...
All I had to do was run in VGA or SVGA (the generic windows video drivers)
and pick a monitor type that gave me the best "supported" settings.
The bands went away. I was lucky enough the track down the "supported"
specs (but not drivers) from the FCC ID number.
My various video adapter cards also have lots of software settings (if I choose
to use the drivers for it).
If you put some time into it, and are lucky, it may "work out"...
Good luck, Rick Glazier

> The problem is the age of the monitor. I have a 1995 vintage monitor and it is showing similar problems as your friend's. Solution
is to either have the monitor fixed or replace it if the repair will be expensive.
